The Parish - Scratch-Made Southern Comfort with a Cajun Kick

As someone born in New Orleans, I can promise you that The Parish is one of the best restaurants in Tucson for scratch-made, Southern-inspired food with a bold Cajun twist. This locally-owned gastropub delivers on every front—flavor, atmosphere, and cocktails that are as creative as they are delicious.

Craft Cocktails with Personality

The drinks here are a highlight all on their own. The Sister Lost Soul, named Tucson’s 2024 City of Gastronomy Cocktail of the Year, was smooth, layered, and beautifully balanced. The Mrs. KC Mule, crafted with house-infused strawberry basil vodka, elderflower, and ginger beer, was bright, refreshing, and a perfect warm-weather sipper.

Starters That Steal the Show

We kicked things off with the Black & Blue Brussels Sprouts, and wow—crispy, smoky, and addictive with just the right kick from the seasoning and blueberry hot sauce. The Cast Iron Cornbread came straight from the oven, golden and crunchy on the outside, soft inside, with hints of cinnamon and honey that paired perfectly with the sweet bourbon butter. These alone are reason enough to come back.

Southern Classics with Tucson Flair

For mains, the Gumbo was hearty and deeply satisfying, the broth rich and the added crawfish cooked to perfection—comfort food done right. The Drunken Angel pasta took things to another level: Burgundy angel hair tossed with shrimp, crawfish, lobster broth, saffron cream, and parmesan. Decadent, unique, and absolutely fantastic.

Sweet Louisiana Ending

No Southern meal is complete without dessert, and the bread pudding did not disappoint. Warm, rich, and decadent, it was the perfect ending to a Louisiana-inspired feast in the heart of Tucson.

Final Thoughts

The Parish combines authentic Southern flavors with a bold Tucson edge, making it a standout in the local dining scene. From award-winning cocktails to scratch-made comfort food, every detail is thoughtfully done. We’ll definitely be back—next time with friends, because this is a place worth sharing.
